My father has always been a big fan of learning about our history, but his resources for information have been limited throughout much his life. Zazueta is not like Cooper or Jones - there just never seemed to be that many of us.
Then he got on the Internet and immediately began doing research. I introduced him to Buber’s Basque Page, which has been around for just about as long as the Internet has and is a fantastic resource for all things Basque, including the name Zazueta.
So now Dad is planning a reunion of all Zazuetas who can get there to come to the Yorba Linda Regional Park in Orange County on May 12th. It will be a strictly “Bring Your Own Everything” affair - food, drink, etc. - but some events and games are in the works. More important than anything, bring your family history. The ultimate goal is to figure out where everyone fits on the Zazueta tree, which will be quite an undertaking.
If you or someone you know is a Zazueta or is of that lineage and you can make it out, you can confirm by sending me your information, which I will then pass on to my father Ron. I literally have never seen him so excited over anything like this, so I’m deeply encouraged that this will turn out to be a fantastic event. If you can’t make it but want to be included as part of the family history project, send me as much information about your family lineage as you can - who were your parents, their parents, siblings, etc. where did they live, on and on - and we’ll make sure to include your information and keep you abreast of what we find.
Yes, this needs it own website. I’m thinking about it…
Can you attend? Let me know!
