It Came From My Right Foot!!! (Disturbing Image Warning)

All right, you asked for it…

They're just bug bites, right?

This is how both feet looked since the camping trip. Kinda gross, amazingly itchy but, really, harmless, right?

What... what are those?

The itching was driving me nuts, so I soaked it in Epsom salts. Good idea, bad idea?

Oh... that's bad.

As we watched them grow, we got a bit more concerned. Especially about that yellow one on top. By the way, these things are literally going all around my ankle. But *only* on the right foot. Weird, eh?

Squishy.

As gross as they were when fully blistered, they were worse when they started to drain. This is about day three.

They cut them off. Ewww...

The doctor was a tad concerned about that top one, so he cut off the blister. I cut off the one next to it myself the day before. When I began writhing in agony, he decided that he’d leave the others alone. This is about how they look right now, five days after the first blisters started forming and a week and a half after being bitten. There are still blisters on the right side of my foot that keep draining and refilling. I’m disturbed with what my body has become.

Oh Man! Poor guy! I really feel for you.
What’s the update now on this? Are you healing? Were the chiggers growing eggs or something? Or were you just having a terrible reaction to them?

Brave man. It’s healing remarkably well now (I should post another picture) though my skin is all dry and peeling. Bleah. Better than blisters, I guess.

The chiggers apparently were just living in my body for a while - I don’t think they lay eggs in the skin, but I think I stopped reading about them when I got to the part describing “small larvae visibly wrthing in tiny blisters”. I, fortunately, didn’t get to see that up close and personal. I think what I got was just a bad reaction caused partially by the chiggers themselves and partially by the fact that I was scratching them.

So tell the kids: Don’t scratch your bites. Not unless you want to wind up like Blister Boy over here.
