Dani, my mother and I went a cruise for the holiday season. How this happened is a rather long and funny story, which I cover in this year’s Christmas letter, which I’ll post here, oh, when I get around to it. One of the things they did on the cruise was take pictures. Lots of pictures. They have a whole hallway dedicated to the posting and purchasing of official ship pictures. I’d make some snarky comment about fools paying $12 for a 5×7 printed on an Epson from a digital image, but we somehow wound up with about seven of them. So no snarky comment.
I found them this morning as I was going through my bag and was sort of taken aback by the first image taken during our vacation, before we even got on the boat. Here’s the part that got me:
The eery similarities between my wife and my mother have always creeped me out more than a little, but this picture just sort of puts it right out there. Bam. As you can see, they’re rather close. In the original picture I’m sort of hanging off to the side, not fully aware of the bizarre oedipal imagery being captured on the imaging device before me. Yikes!
