Shut up, Wesley!

Quote of the day: “My consumption of grilled, marinated meats has increased 5000%. Thanks, George Foreman!”

Wil Wheaton, aka “Wesley Crusher”

Yeah, I’m on the WW bandwagon. What you gonna do about it, punk?

My college buddy John Tchoe turned me on to Wil’s site a while back, shortly after he redesigned it. Been going there a couple of times a week ever since. In fact, he’s part of the reason I even started this whole Blog thing. He does tend to hop on his soapbox quite a bit, often on topics that I agree with (I’d much rather hear a rant by someone whith whom I *don’t* agree. I hate just sitting there and nodding my head when I read something. If it’s a soap box, I want to argue the point!) but most of the time he’s just funny as hell.

I, for some reason, am not that funny lately. I’m working on it, though.

Since I’m going so link crazy today, I figure I should also give you a link to the Monterey Bay Aquarium web site. I checked it out today because I’m looking for ideas for simple applets to help me build my AWT/Swing skills and was thinking a jellyfish aquarium simulation could be neat. I checked the MBA site to see if they had something like it already. Instead, I got stuck watching the otters get fed. Live. Broadband will be so cool when they finally figure out how to make it really work.

I’m now a member of the MBA, which is pretty groovy. The problem with the aquarium, though, is that it makes me wicked hungry every time I go. I check out the sand dabs exhibit and have my Homer moment: “Mmmm… Sand dabs.” I go to the Portola Cafe, the restaurant they have in there, point to the otter tank and say, “I’ll have what they’re having.” I think fish are cool. Especially when dredged in butter and sprayed with lemon juice.

Perhaps I’ll restart my old Rob on the Road series, which I started just before I got out of college and, therefore, had only three road trips to write about. I’m not taking as many road trips as I used to, but I probably should. Dani’s not the biggest fan of the road trip concept, but I can work on her.
